We were driving through suburbs. Old ones, ones you can tell are old because the trees are big enough to meet in the middle of the street, creating beautiful canopies. Those nostalgic suburbs were suddenly interrupted but a stark white wall. You can’t miss it, but you cannot see what lies behind it either.

What lay behind that wall changed me, made me question the structure of everything I thought I knew, thought I wanted and thought I understood about life. Architecture made more sense than art, and I’m not sure what I’m going to do with that revelation yet.

I was going to start writing about Rachofsky house, but I don’t think I’m up for that right now. But you can read what Jules wrote about our trip to Rachofsky on ArchDaily

And as for me, I will just say happy new year. I will say I have painted more in the past 9 days than I have in the past 6 months. I will say that I hope I can keep it up. And I will say I hope this year brings great opportunities to both myself and to those closest to me; you have my unconditional love and support (and I plan to live vicariously through you all if I’m stuck in the suburbs much longer).
